Berkeley Streets Race 2026: The Vibe Was Different with Big Rick on the Mic
Big Rick on the Mic!
This year hit different. The Berkeley Streets Criterium wasn’t just a race. It felt like a full-on community event.
Big Rick Set the Tone
From the first race to the last sprint, having Big Rick on the mic changed everything.
Energy. Flow. Presence. Every lap felt alive. Every move got called out. The crowd stayed locked in the whole day.
That kind of atmosphere matters more than people think. It turns a race into an experience.
Rick kept the energy high all day. Every attack, every break, every sprint, he brought people into it. Riders could hear it. Spectators could feel it.
And the interviews, that’s what made it special.
Talking with our title sponsor Brian Gate / Expert Tree Service
Catching the Women’s P1/2 winner right after the finish
Breaking it down with the Men’s P1/2 winner
That connection between racers, sponsors, and the crowd is what builds something bigger than just a race.
Appreciate Big Rick for not only keeping the vibe high, but also making sure our sponsors got the recognition they deserve. That support goes a long way.
The Vibe Was Real
We heard it all day from racers:
“Way better vibe this year”
“Super smooth and organized”
“Felt fun out there”
That’s what we’re aiming for.
Not just fast racing, but something people actually enjoy being part of.
Racing Was On Point
Tight course. Technical corners. Fast fields.
From the first whistle to the final sprint, people showed up ready to race.
283 starts. Full gas all day.
More Than Just Racing
What made Sunday special wasn’t just what happened on course.
Kids clinic packed with future riders
Kids race full of smiles and energy
Families hanging out, watching, cheering
That’s how you grow the sport—by making it accessible and visible.
Built by the Community
Like everything we do with the Berkeley Omnium, this event doesn’t happen without people showing up.
Volunteers. Racers. Sponsors. Community. Everyone plays a part.
We’re Just Getting Started
We got wonderful feedback this year and we’re taking all of it into next year.
Better flow. Better experience. Better racing.
That’s the goal every time.
If you were there, you felt it. If you missed it, we’ll see you next year.
