Marin Ride - Saturday, July 22nd - 8:45 am meetup, 9am roll time
What: This week, we’ll be riding a Mt Tam summit loop with a little gravel option by heading out over the RSR Bridge, heading south to Mill Valley via Chapman, then climbing up to Tam via a 2km dirt option (30mm tires recommended, but can be done on smaller) [NOTE: if you want to skip the dirt, it's easy to climb to Tam via Marion using this Strava route]. Once we've reached the top of the east peak, we'll head back across Seven Sisters and down through Alpine Dam to Fairfax. The coffee top will be in Fairfax, probably at the Coffee Roastery! From Point Richmond, the route is ~59 miles with ~5300 ft of climbing. We’ll regroup at Larkspur, Mill Valley, Tam East Peak, and Fairfax. Ride pace for A group will be 15-17 mph average with faster bursts on some sections and for B group will be 13-15 mph average and C group will be 12-14 mph and you should be comfortable with group riding and have read and be familiar the BBC Group Ride Guidelines. Ride leaders will be Alex C (A) and TBD (B) and TBD (C) this week. I may start out with the group, but will likely turn back early, so please let me know if you'd like to volunteer to lead or groups!
Where/When: Meeting this Saturday at 8:45 am outside Maya Taqueria at Pt Richmond (plenty of parking available if you’re driving). We’ll roll from Point Richmond at 9 am sharp. C group will depart 5 minutes after and groups and will have its own regroups along the route.
Non-members are welcome to join up to three official Berkeley Bike Club rides, but must agree to our waiver before each ride. After three rides, we ask that you join the club to continue attending rides (hopefully it’s an easy decision!).
