The Backbone of 2026 Berkeley Omnium: Thank You, Volunteers
Berkeley Omnium doesn’t happen without volunteers. Full stop.
This event is often seen as one of the longest-running and most iconic race weekends in NorCal but what people don’t always see is what it takes to make it happen. The early mornings. The long days. The coordination. The problem-solving in real time.
That’s all volunteers.
From the moment the first cone goes down before sunrise to the last barricade getting loaded up, this event is powered by people who simply care. People who believe in bike racing. People who believe in community. People who show up.
Built by the Community, for the Community
Berkeley Omnium is not owned by one team or one person. It’s built by people across teams and backgrounds, coming together to create something bigger than any of us individually.
Course marshals keep riders safe at critical turns.
Registration teams are getting hundreds of racers checked in smoothly.
Result teams are handling hundreds of racer entries in the system while also managing race results and timing.
Follow cars and moto support, keeping the race flowing.
Setup and teardown crews handling the heavy lifting.
Friends, family, and supporters stepping in wherever needed.
Every single role matters. Every single person matters.
You Made This Weekend Possible
We’re able to give back.
All proceeds from Berkeley Omnium go directly to six East Bay high school mountain bike teams. That impact is real. That impact is because of you.
The Work Behind the Scenes
Most people see race day.
They don’t see:
The course prep days leading up to the event
The logistics, permits, and safety coordination
The hours spent organizing details so things run smoothly
The constant adjustments when things don’t go as planned
Volunteers don’t just “help”, they lead, they solve problems, and they make decisions that keep the event moving forward.
More Than an Event
Berkeley Streets Race especially showed what this is all about.
Kids racing. Families hanging out. Music, energy, and people just enjoying being part of something. That doesn’t happen by accident—that’s created.
And it’s created by volunteers.
Thank You
To everyone who showed up, whether it was your first time or your tenth year, thank you.
Thank you for your time.
Thank you for your energy.
Thank you for believing in what this event stands for.
When people say Berkeley Omnium has a special vibe, this is why. You built it.
